Gotta love when a studio expands its arsenal upon the world of gaming, especially when that studio is Mojang - famous now for creating the wildly successful indie hit Minecraft. I have a current series detailing my glitched, colourful adventures in the game, and every time I finish playing I see everything in cubes.
I never expected to hear anything of a new project so soon, specifically because Minecraft is still in beta. Over one million units sold, and it's still in beta. The studio is even in the process of transferring its premiere game to smartphones, and they have commented on bringing it to consoles. With the game only being on PC, the possibilities are really endless; will the studio's new project, Scrolls, see the same fate?
From what we know so far, Scrolls will play like a collectible card game on top of a board game, with twists and turns at every stop. This sounds like a more complex Dungeons & Dragons. The concept sounds really cool, and with the promise of local championships and even a global competition to find a 'world champion', the game could be a huge hit. I'm hoping it plays out like Magic: The Gathering. Anyway, my interest has been peaked.
The game is planned for paid beta aimed at Christmas this year, so watch out for it!
Sidenote: Later on I should be posting part five of my Minecraft series, and posting a review of Beyond Good & Evil HD in the near future. Watch out for those as well!
